Internal Empowerment conducted the first Choice Theory – Internal Empowerment Coaching graduation ceremony in the USA for male incarcerated persons at Centinela State Prison.
17 students completed 420 hours through Loyola Marymount University, earning University credits for having completed the following courses:
Dr. Lincoln Johnson, Centinela’s Principal, commented on his experience observing the program:
“When I first experienced the CT-Internal Empowerment Coaching program, I knew that I needed it here at Centinela. The opportunity to watch the growth and development of the participants has enriched my experience here, and has left a mark on me. From watching them all come in with their arms crossed, to now seeing them graduate has been a journey I am glad I got to take with them. The hours they put in, the weekends they gave up to meet, and the issues they had to dig deep to uncover and correct have all paid off with this culmination. They are now tasked with transferring their new knowledge to others as part of their responsibility as a graduate of this program.”
Cassandra Krcmar, CTC-IEC Facilitator, provided the following explanation of the program.
“Internal Empowerment Coaching teaches us how to be happy by learning about ourselves and discovering how we are meeting our basic needs. This information is important for people from all walks of life, and I am so excited for these students to become coaches and help those around them to find what they really want in life. It is our hope that we will be able to spread this amazing program designed by Dr. Triché, and based on the work of the late William Glasser, to as many people as possible.”
